Background & Goals
IsleKey Holidays is a specialized holiday activity, island tour, and resort booking platform designed specifically for Maldives tourism. Built to handle complex travel reservations, the application allows guest travelers to make general activity inquiries freely while offering a seamless friction-free auth flow for formal bookings.
Key Features & User Flows
- Dual Guest Inquiry & Auth Booking Flow: Allows guests to browse activities, hotel profiles, and submit tour inquiries without logging in, while seamlessly preserving booking parameters during auth checks.
- Maldives Excursion & Tour Management: Comprehensive catalog for water sports, island hopping tours, diving excursions, and resort day passes.
- Hotel & Room Profile Booking Engine: Detailed room profiles, market selection, meal plan customization, and check-in date selection.
- Intelligent State Preservation & Post-Login Redirect: Saves selected activity dates, guest counts, and room details when unauthenticated users attempt to book, restoring them immediately after login.
- Interactive UI & Motion Design: Built with Framer Motion, Material-UI, Ant Design, and Tailwind CSS for smooth micro-animations and clean mobile responsiveness.
Architecture & Design Decisions
- Conditional Auth Middleware: Implemented custom backend middleware on Express to inspect payload parameters and conditionally enforce JWT verification for bookings while accepting guest inquiries.
- React 18 SPA Architecture: Configured with Vite, React Router DOM v6, Formik & Yup schema validation, and custom authentication hooks.
Challenges Solved
- Frictionless Booking Conversion: Eliminated drop-off points by allowing guest inquiries and preserving full state during required login redirects for official bookings.
